Josh Cellars was founded in 2005 by Joseph Carr, a former sommelier and wine executive, as a tribute to his father Josh, a lumberjack, boxer, U.S. Army veteran and volunteer firefighter. What started as tailgate sales out of a truck grew into one of America's best-selling Cabernet labels, now part of the Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits portfolio, with Australian-born winemaker Wayne Donaldson leading production since 2009.

The Reserve tier launched in 2016 to honor the elder Carr's work ethic, and it steps up the sourcing and oak treatment across the board. We carry three: the Josh Cellars Reserve Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in 20% new French oak with raspberry, coffee and black peppercorn; the Reserve North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon, drawn from Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties with black cherry, blackcurrant and toasted hazelnut; and the Reserve Bourbon Barrel Aged California Cabernet Sauvignon, finished in charred American bourbon barrels for vanilla, caramel and toffee richness.
