Laphroaig is Islay's most famously divisive distillery, founded in 1815 by the Johnston brothers on the island's south coast and holder of a Royal Warrant from King Charles III. Still floor-malting part of its barley and drying it over its own peat, Laphroaig makes the boldest medicinal, seaweed-and-iodine smoke in Scotch, from the benchmark 10 Year and the richer Quarter Cask to the gentle Select, the connoisseur's Lore and rare aged editions like the 25 Year Cask Strength and 27 Year Old.
