Portofino Dry Gin was born on the Ligurian Riviera as a tribute to the fishing village of Portofino, created by co-founder Ruggero Raymo and his partners to bottle the scent of the Mediterranean coast. The gin is produced for the brand at the historic Antica Distilleria Quaglia in northern Italy, a family-run distillery with more than a century of experience, and much of its character comes from botanicals grown or gathered inside the Portofino Regional Park.

The recipe uses 21 botanicals, among them juniper, orris root, angelica, lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, lavender, rose, rosemary, marjoram, sage, bay laurel, sweet fennel, chamomile, caraway and cardamom. Each one is macerated separately in wheat spirit for seven days and distilled individually in a copper pot still or rotovap before the distillates are blended, keeping every note clean and bright. Bottled at 86 proof, Portofino Dry Gin is light and fragrant, with juniper, lemon and rose up front, garden herbs through the middle and a warm finish of bay, rosemary and fennel. It makes a superb gin and tonic with a rosemary sprig and carries a Negroni or French 75 with ease.
