Résidence Spirits is a small organic house in the Charentes, the 'Spirits Valley' of western France, built by Mathieu Leboeuf and his wife Tamiko. Mathieu grew up in the Charentes countryside among vineyards and copper stills; Tamiko brings an Australian upbringing and Sri Lankan family roots. Their credo is to innovate while respecting tradition, and the house describes itself as a pioneer of the organic movement for quality spirits, supporting more than twenty organic winegrowers in a region where organic vines are under two percent of plantings.

Everything is distilled in small batches in the Charentes using the classic Charentais method. The Cognac is made from organically farmed Ugni Blanc on clay-limestone soils, slowly double distilled in copper pot stills and aged in Limousin oak; the gin distils each organic botanical separately and is bottled unfiltered; the Pineau blends fresh grape must with young Cognac and rests for years in used Cognac casks.
