Seelbach's is a Louisville, Kentucky online retailer built around craft distillers, founded by Blake Riber, the writer behind the Bourbonr blog whose 2013 Poor Man's Pappy post went viral among bourbon fans. The shop vets and sells small-batch whiskey, rum, tequila and single malt from independent producers nationwide, and Private Reserve is the label Seelbach's puts on the whiskeys it sources, finishes and bottles itself.

The house style leans on patience and unusual finishing. Seelbach's buys aged Kentucky and Indiana bourbon with published mash bills and ages, slow-proofs some of it inside the barrel so water and whiskey marry over months, and re-barrels others in toasted French oak, maple syrup casks, California Cabernet barrels, Amburana wood or honey-infused light whiskey barrels in the Florida heat. Most releases are bottled uncut and unfiltered at barrel strength in batches of a few hundred to a few thousand bottles, and reviewers at Breaking Bourbon have scored recent batches as high as 4.5.

The range runs from the everyday Classic and Wheated straight bourbons to The Beekeeper honey finish, Double Stacked maple, Toasted French Oak & Maple, Amburana and California Cab finishes, and an unfinished 10 Year cask strength bourbon.
