Del Maguey Crema de Mezcal is a sweetened mezcal from Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal, the pioneering brand that brought artisanal Oaxacan mezcal to the world. It is made in the village of San Luis del Río by blending the village's traditional Espadín mezcal with a small amount of miel de maguey, the unfermented cooked-agave syrup, in a style that honors the sweetened mezcals long enjoyed in Oaxacan villages. Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is roasted maguey with vanilla and pear. The palate is creamy almond, apple, coffee and pineapple, and the finish is long, sweet and smoky with a note of orange. It is a gentle introduction to mezcal for newcomers, a lovely sipper neat, and a natural fit in a mezcal Old Fashioned or a smoky margarita where it replaces both mezcal and sweetener.
