The Best Bourbon Under $60 (2026): 20 Bottles Actually in Stock, From $15 to Old Forester 1920

The best bourbon under $60 is better than most of the bourbon over $200, and it's always on the shelf. The allocation chase has convinced a generation of drinkers that the good stuff is the stuff you can't find, and it just isn't true: the bottles that bartenders pour, that distillers drink at home, and that reviewers keep calling benchmarks mostly cost between $15 and $60. Here are twenty of them, every one in stock right now, sorted by price, with the one to buy for each job.

Under $30: The Workhorses

Evan Williams Black Label ($14.99)

The second-best-selling bourbon on earth, from Heaven Hill, the largest family-owned distillery in Kentucky. The house 78/10/12 mash bill, four to five years old, 86 proof: caramel, vanilla, nutty corn sweetness. A mixing bourbon and one of the great ones. Bourbon and Coke, highballs, Whiskey Sours by the pitcher.

Larceny Small Batch ($21.99)

Heaven Hill's wheated bourbon, the Old Fitzgerald recipe (68% corn, 20% wheat), six years and up at 92 proof. Caramel, honey, fresh bread, baked apple, and the softness wheat brings. The affordable, always-available answer to the Weller hunt: same grain, same softness, none of the lottery.

Buffalo Trace ($24.99)

The flagship of the distillery that makes Pappy, Blanton's, Weller, and Eagle Rare, and the one on that list you can still find under $40. Low-rye Mash Bill #1, around eight years, 90 proof: vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, a hint of mint. Allocated in many markets now, which is absurd for a bourbon built to be an everyday pour. At retail it's one of the best values in Kentucky.

Wild Turkey 101 ($24.99)

Jimmy Russell's bourbon, from the longest-tenured master distiller in the world. Low entry proof means it comes off the barrel around 109 and needs only a splash of water to hit 101, closer to barrel strength than anything at this price. Heavy alligator char, six to eight years, caramel, orange zest, rye spice, black pepper. Bourbon Culture calls it the real deal at $20.

Old Forester 100 Proof ($24.99)

The bartender's bourbon: Brown-Forman's high-rye recipe at the strength George Garvin Brown signed his name to in 1870. Caramel, banana, cherry, black pepper, real body. The best-value 100-proof bourbon in Kentucky and the one most cocktail bars keep in the well. Old Fashioned, Manhattan, or neat.

Elijah Craig Small Batch ($29.99)

The most-poured premium bourbon in America: eight-to-twelve-year Heaven Hill barrels at 94 proof. Vanilla, caramel, toasted nuts, dark cherry, cinnamon. The benchmark under-$35 premium bourbon, and the reason it's everywhere is that it's very good.

$30 to $45: The Daily Sippers

Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select ($32.99)

A blend of pot-still whiskey from Woodford's Scottish copper stills with column spirit from Shively, 90.4 proof. Butterscotch, mocha, banana bread, dried tobacco, gentle rye. Remarkably consistent and the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby. The one to give someone who wants a name they know.

Four Roses Small Batch ($33.99)

Four of Four Roses' ten recipes married at 90 proof. Caramel, ripe red fruit, a floral rye lift, cinnamon, soft honey. The most reliable $35 bourbon in Kentucky: the Old Fashioned pour and the daily sipper enthusiasts keep reaching for because it never disappoints.

1792 Small Batch ($36.99)

Barton's high-rye flagship from Bardstown, 93.7 proof. Butterscotch, dried fruit, cinnamon, and a rye pepper most Kentucky bourbons don't carry. Best Kentucky Small Batch at the 2025 World Whiskies Awards, and Barton playing second fiddle to Buffalo Trace inside Sazerac is exactly why it stays this cheap. The spicy Manhattan bourbon.

Evan Williams Single Barrel ($41.99)

The vintage-dated, black-wax bottle that was the first single barrel named Whisky Advocate's American Whiskey of the Year. Seven to eight years, 86.6 proof, barrel number and dates on the label. Caramel, cornbread, dried fruit, cinnamon. A sipper for nuance, and each barrel differs, which is the fun.

Four Roses Single Barrel ($43.99)

The OBSV recipe: 35% rye with the V yeast, one barrel aged seven to nine years, non-chill-filtered at 100 proof. Cherry, peach, cinnamon, florals, dark chocolate, black pepper. The Whiskey Wash called it one of its favorite bottles of whiskey in the world. A benchmark high-rye bourbon.

Michter's US*1 Small Batch ($44.99)

Batched twenty barrels at a time, entered into the barrel at 103 proof, the lowest in Kentucky, in custom toasted-then-charred wood. Caramel, stone fruit, butterscotch, dried cherry, 91.4 proof. The Michter's you can actually find, with the same process as the allocated 10 Year. The Manhattan bourbon.

Woodinville Straight Bourbon ($44.99)

Washington State's answer to Kentucky, mentored by the late David Pickerell: every grain from one family farm, aged at least five years in heavily toasted and charred barrels in central Washington's hot summers and cold winters, 90 proof. Crisp apple, cedar, white peach, caramel, rye spice. For the drinker who wants something outside Kentucky that still tastes like bourbon.

$45 to $60: The Serious Bottles

Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond 7 Year ($49.99)

The same whiskey as Elijah Craig and Evan Williams, a year older than most of them, from one season, at exactly 100 proof under the 1897 act. Vanilla, leather, tobacco, graham cracker, butterscotch, cherry. The quintessential Heaven Hill profile and the Old Fashioned pour that outperforms its price.

Wilderness Trail Bottled-in-Bond ($49.99)

Sweet-mash bourbon from two fermentation scientists in Danville, barreled at a low 110 proof and bottled at 100. Orange, cherry, peach over baking spice and pipe tobacco; Drinkhacker graded the Small Batch an A-. The most scientifically serious craft distillery in Kentucky, and the source of several of our private picks.

Four Roses Small Batch Select ($54.99)

Six of the ten recipes, six to seven years, non-chill-filtered at 104 proof. Dark cherry, vanilla, cinnamon, oak, a long spiced finish. Breaking Bourbon calls it the best bottle in the core range. Small Batch's polish with Barrel Strength's weight, always in stock, and the bottle that made a lot of fans stop hunting the Limited Editions.

Willett Pot Still Reserve ($55.99)

The bourbon in the bottle shaped like a pot still, from the Kulsveen family in Bardstown, 94 proof. Summer fruit, cherry, honey, caramel, a surge of rye spice. Reviewers call the whiskey average and the bottle iconic; both are true, and it's the gift bourbon that never gets returned.

Smoke Wagon Small Batch ($58.99)

Las Vegas blenders marrying young and old barrels of the same MGP high-rye mash bill (36% rye): young for punch, old for body, non-chill-filtered at 100 proof. Spicy caramel, cherry, plum, white pepper, fig, ginger. Breaking Bourbon called it a bold sip that toes the line of over-spiced without crossing it. A cult favorite, and the entry to a brand whose private barrels we pick ourselves.

Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style ($59.99)

Old Forester at 115 proof, the way it came out of the barrel for medicinal permit KY-3 during Prohibition. Dark fruit, burnt brown sugar, chocolate, banana, barrel char, crème brûlée. Breaking Bourbon rated it as good as bourbons well past $100, and it's the bottle enthusiasts tell beginners to buy instead of chasing allocations. Always on the shelf, always this good. The best bourbon on this list.

Eagle Rare 10 Year ($59.99, five bottles)

Buffalo Trace Mash Bill #1 at a minimum of ten years, 90 proof. Vanilla, honeycomb, orange peel, baking spice, nutty undertones. Reception is split: some find real depth, others find it thin for its reputation. What isn't in dispute is that a ten-year Buffalo Trace bourbon under $60 is hard to find, and we have five.
