Honky Tonk Time Machine is Código 1530's añejo in the special edition for George Strait's 2019 album — the King of Country is a founding investor, and this was the first bottle he put a record on. Código is the project of former Crocs CEO Ron Snyder and Federico Vaughan, backed by Strait, Brett Hull, and Mike Shanahan; it's made at Varo Destilería, NOM 1616, in Amatitán from fully mature blue Weber agave, cooked in stone-clay ovens, fermented with yeast from a local bakery, and double-distilled, additive-free. Inside is the house Añejo — aged eighteen months in French oak Napa Cabernet barrels, bottled at 40% ABV — the bottle named Añejo of the Year at the New York International Spirits Competition, with Double Gold at Stuttgart and Platinum Best in Class at the SIP Awards; check your bottle for the edition's exact specs. Bourbon & Banter: a flavor bomb on the palate, very smooth, no burn, a really special tequila. Sip Tequila: dried fruit, vanilla, toasted oak, butterscotch, and a smooth, dry finish. Expect cooked agave, caramel, dark cherry, cocoa, and cedar with the Cabernet's soft tannin and a long, elegant finish.
