As One Cru Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
As One Cru (styled AsOneCru) was founded in 2016 by Chris Radomski, co-founder of the cult Napa label Hundred Acre, as a tiny, on-premise-focused Cabernet project with Ehren Jordan of Failla as consulting winemaker. The fruit comes from two undisclosed Napa Valley sites held under non-disclosure agreements, one on the St. Helena valley floor and one on Howell Mountain, giving a blend of valley-floor opulence and mountain structure. The wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and is aged a full 30 months in 100% new French oak; Radomski has said the extended barrel time is what brings the fruit's power into balance. Production is only a few hundred cases. Bottled at 15.5% alcohol, it is deep garnet with blackcurrant, plum and blackberry layered over violet, graphite, cedar and tobacco, then a dense palate of dark fruit, espresso and dark chocolate with powdery tannin, a mineral streak and a very long finish. Decanter awarded the inaugural 2016 a 99-point score, ranking it above Promontory and Bryant Family, and praised the 2017 as drinking beautifully with impressive weight.
