Airem 14 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, released as a limited, individually numbered bottling. PX casks, which previously held the sweetest and darkest of sherries, give this whisky a deep amber color and a rich, dessert-like sweetness layered over the malt. Bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof), non chill-filtered, in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is dried fruit, raisins and honey with a faint wisp of smoke. The palate is full-bodied and rich with dark chocolate, figs and plums, moving into a sweet and spicy finish of cinnamon and ginger. The PX influence is generous without smothering the spirit, and the result is a balanced after-dinner whisky. A good pick for fans of sherried malts looking for something off the beaten path.
