Auchentoshan Three Wood Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Auchentoshan Three Wood is the Glasgow distillery's most decorated single malt, matured in three different casks in sequence: American bourbon barrels, then Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, then Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for a final sweetening. Because Auchentoshan is the only Scottish distillery that triple-distills all of its spirit, the base malt is clean and light enough to let all three woods show through.
Bottled at 86 proof, Three Wood pours a deep amber and opens with raisin, blackcurrant and toffee, with rich caramel, dark chocolate and a hint of rosemary and cinnamon on the palate. The finish is long, sweet and oaky with a dried-fruit fade. It is one of the best-value sherried Lowland malts available, a natural fit for fans of Macallan or Aberlour looking for something a little softer.
