Bailoni Original Gold Apricot Schnaps comes from Bailoni, the family distillery founded in 1872 in Krems, in Austria's Wachau valley, a UNESCO World Heritage region along the Danube famous for its apricots (Marillen). Over-ripe Wachau apricots are pitted, mashed, fermented and distilled three times, then the apricot distillate is matured for at least two years and makes up 60% of the final blend. Sold in a 750ml bottle.
The result is a refined, golden apricot spirit with full, fruity aromas and a rich, ripe apricot flavor that is sweeter and rounder than a dry eau-de-vie but far more elegant than a flavored schnapps. Serve it chilled after dinner the Austrian way, add it to a spritz or a sour, or use it in place of apricot brandy in a Hotel Nacional or a Pendennis Club. A benchmark apricot spirit.
