Baltamaro Coffee is one of the Baltamaro series of American amari from Baltimore Spirits Company, the Maryland distillery best known for its Epoch rye. Baltamaro Coffee is a dark, medium-bitter amaro in which coffee takes center stage without overwhelming the classic amaro backbone: citrus peel, cinchona bark and raw cacao build a bitter but approachable finish, while cascara, the husk of the coffee cherry, lends earthy tea notes throughout. Sold in a 750ml bottle.
The taste is roasted coffee and dark cacao with bitter orange and a tea-like earthiness, balanced sweetness and a long, bittersweet finish. It is a natural in an espresso martini, a coffee Negroni or a Black Manhattan with rye, and it makes a fine digestivo neat after dinner. One of the most interesting coffee amari made in America.
