Bikoku 12 Year Nirasaki Single Malt Whisky is the oldest expression in the Bikoku range, named for Nirasaki in Yamanashi Prefecture, a town at the foot of Japan's Southern Alps known for the purity of its mountain water. Distilled from malted barley and that spring water, it is aged twelve years in oak barrels and bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
Twelve years in the barrel give it a rich, layered profile: dried fruit, honey and vanilla on the nose, a smooth, velvety palate with orchard fruit, toffee and a hint of spice, and a long, satisfying finish where the oak has fully harmonized with the spirit. It is a sipping whisky, best neat or with a drop of water in the Japanese style.
