Buchanan's DeLuxe 12 Year Blended Scotch Whisky
Buchanan's DeLuxe 12 Year Old is the flagship of a blended Scotch house founded by James Buchanan in London in 1884, whose blends were once poured in the House of Commons. Built around Highland and Speyside malts including Dalwhinnie and Glendullan and aged at least twelve years, it is one of the best-selling premium blends in Latin America and a Southern California favorite.
Bottled at 80 proof, DeLuxe 12 is malty and fresh, with honey, sugared cereal and light citrus on the nose, a sweet, smooth palate of orange, honey and vanilla, and a warm finish that lingers with honey, lemon and a faint wisp of smoke. Drinkhacker graded it a B+ and called it a step up in character from the usual 12-year blends. Serve it neat, on the rocks or with ginger ale, or gift it in the classic bottle.
