L'Essence is a blend of exceptionally rare eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, some of them a century old, assembled from the house's most treasured reserves and presented in a hand-finished crystal decanter.
The nose opens with sandalwood and cigar leaf, followed by toffee, marzipan and fresh honey, and finishes with the delicate perfume of early summer blossom. On the palate, licorice, dried plum and apricot are full-bodied and rich, building to a smoldering intensity that lingers seemingly forever. It is a cognac to pour neat, in tiny measures, for the most important occasions.
