Couvignac VS Fine Cognac is a young, fruit-forward cognac distilled at a single distillery from wines of three of the major Cognac crus. It is aged at least 30 months in French oak, using 15% new barrels and 85% seasoned cognac casks made from large-grain oak dried for three years and toasted hot to bring out vanilla and toast.
It pours a bright amber with copper glints. The nose is pear, raisin and dried apricot with a distinct bourbon-vanilla note, toasted oak and light smoke. The palate is round and soft, mixing fresh grape, wine notes and flowers, and the finish shows classic French oak with an early hint of prune. It is a sipping-friendly VS and an excellent cocktail cognac for a Sidecar, a Sazerac or a cognac and cola.
