Green Chartreuse is the legendary 55% ABV (110 proof) herbal liqueur made by the Carthusian monks of the Grande Chartreuse monastery near Grenoble, France, from a recipe dating to 1605 and produced since 1764. Only two monks know the identity of the 130 plants and flowers, how to blend and distill them, and which plants give the liqueur its completely natural green color, and they alone supervise the slow aging in oak casks.
Powerful and unique, it is intensely herbal, sweet and spicy with a long, warming finish. Serve it very cold or on the rocks as a digestif, or use it in the Last Word, the Chartreuse Swizzle or a Bijou. Allocation is limited, so availability varies.
