McQueen and the Violet Fog Gin
McQueen and the Violet Fog Gin is handcrafted in the hills of Jundiaí, Brazil, 6,000 miles from the traditional gin world, on a sugarcane distillate base with 21 botanicals gathered from around the globe. Six of them are signature botanicals rarely found in gin: Indian basil, Portuguese rosemary, Mediterranean fennel, South Pacific calamansi, Vietnamese star anise and Brazilian açaí, joined by lemongrass, pomelo and jasmine. It is made in 500-liter batches using both maceration and vapor infusion, and bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). The name comes from an Atticus poem printed on the back label.
Drinkhacker rated it an A- (9/10), praising a complex, versatile gin with an earthy, floral nose of forest floor and dried flowers, then brighter citrus and apple butter with rosemary on the palate and a balanced, slightly savory finish. It is a superb G&T with a sprig of rosemary and a distinctive Martini gin, at a price that makes it an easy gamble.
