Pernod Pastis is the classic French anise apéritif from Pernod, the house founded by Henri-Louis Pernod in 1805 and the maker of France's original absinthe. Created in 1938 after absinthe was banned, Pernod is distilled from star anise, fennel and a blend of 14 herbs including coriander, mint and licorice, and contains no artificial dyes.
Bottled at 40% ABV, it is aromatic, lightly sweet and refreshingly herbal. Enjoy it the French way, one part Pernod to five parts iced water, and watch it turn cloudy; add a sugar cube on a slotted spoon if you like it sweeter, or use it in a Sazerac rinse or a Pernod and tonic.
