Senor Artesano Reposado Tequila Mariachis

Señor Artesano is a Los Altos de Jalisco tequila brand bottled at Tequilas El Mexicano in Arandas, the highland town whose red volcanic soil grows some of the sweetest blue Weber agave in the appellation, and every expression in the line is 100% agave bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). The brand is known as much for its packaging as its liquid: the core line comes in hand-painted ceramic hacienda bottles, and the Reposado is also released in a series of collectible ceramic figurine bottles, of which this is the Mariachi, a hand-painted musician in traje de charro, the embroidered suit and wide sombrero of the mariachi bands that come from Jalisco, the same state the tequila does. Each 750 ml figure is painted by hand and the instrument and colors vary, so no two are identical. Inside is the brand's Reposado, which by regulation has rested between two months and a year in oak, giving the highland agave a light touch of oak and vanilla without much color. Treat it as a classic Los Altos reposado for sipping or a top-shelf Margarita, in a bottle that will outlast the tequila.
