Made in partnership with Foundry Distilling in Iowa, the whiskey is distilled from the wort of Arrogant Bastard Ale, the aggressively hopped strong ale that Stone released in 1997 with the warning that you are not worthy, and aged in oak before bottling at 97 proof.
The label copy is classic Arrogant Bastard, daring you to relax enough to see what is hidden in the glass, and the whiskey follows suit: rich malt and caramel from the ale's grain bill, a hoppy, resinous bitterness that shows up as a savory, herbal edge, and toasted oak and vanilla from the barrel, finishing long and dry. It drinks like a single malt with attitude and is a must-try for fans of the beer and of beer-distilled whiskeys like Charbay and Wolves.
