Browne Family Vineyards was founded in 2005 by Andrew Browne, the Washington vintner behind Precept Wine, and named for his grandfather William Browne. The Forest Project label is the winery's partnership with the National Forest Foundation, with a portion of every bottle sold funding reforestation of U.S. national forests damaged by wildfire. For the Cabernet Sauvignon, winemaker John Freeman looked south to Paso Robles, where warm days and cool Pacific-influenced nights ripen Cabernet with plush fruit and soft tannins. The wine is aged in a mix of French and American oak and bottled at roughly 13.5% ABV. The winemaker's notes describe a deep purple core with a ruby rim and aromas of toasted marshmallow, blueberry, boysenberry, black currant, graphite and crème de cassis that open into dried tobacco, grilled herbs and spicy oak with time in the glass; the palate is layered, round and elegant with a broad mouthfeel. It is an easy pick for burgers, pizza night, barbecue chicken or a weeknight pot roast. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release. 750ml bottle.
