Honest Thief is a Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon from the Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits portfolio, the importer and producer behind Josh Cellars and Yellow Tail in the United States. The label draws on 1850s Gold Rush California and the legend of a woman outlaw who used her lover's stolen gold to help those in need, then rode the Santa Lucia Ridge, now Paso Robles wine country, to continue his work. The fruit comes from the Paso Robles AVA on California's Central Coast, where hot days and cold Pacific nights build ripe fruit and firm structure in Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is fermented in a combination of stainless steel and oak, then aged in French oak barrels before bottling at 14.0% alcohol. The winemaking team describes a dark-fruited red with blackberry and black cherry, brown baking spice, and a hint of toasted tobacco, with soft tannins that make it easy to drink young. This 750ml bottle is a weeknight Cabernet for smoked ribs, tacos al pastor, or a sharp cheddar burger. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
