Jordan Vineyard & Winery was founded in 1972 by Tom and Sally Jordan on a Bordeaux-inspired model of food, wine and hospitality, and under second-generation vintner John Jordan the Healdsburg chateau still makes exactly one Cabernet each year. This library release is the 2010 vintage, cellared at the winery and re-released with a decade of bottle age. Winemaker Rob Davis blended 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec from about sixty blocks on the Jordan Estate hillsides and a dozen family growers, 85% Alexander Valley with small lots from Mendocino and Dry Creek. It saw 21 days of extended maceration, then 12 months in 74% French and 26% American oak, 39% new, plus 21 months in bottle before its first release. At a graceful 13.8% ABV, Davis described blackberry, blueberry, cassis, violet and dark chocolate, a silky cassis core, balanced acidity and smooth tannins on a long, layered finish. Decant and serve with duck confit, Sonoma lamb or dry-aged beef. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
