Lecompte Calvados Pays d'Auge Originel is a 750ml, 40% ABV calvados from Lecompte, a house founded in 1923 in the heart of the Pays d'Auge, the most prestigious appellation in Normandy. Made from a blend of cider apples, double distilled in copper pot stills as the appellation requires, and aged in oak, Originel is the entry point to the Lecompte range.
Luminous amber in the glass, it opens with ripe apple, vanilla, oak and delicate baking spice, and the palate balances the sweetness of sun-ripened apples with warm oak and gentle spice before a long, elegant finish. Sip it neat, or use it in a Jack Rose or calvados Old Fashioned.
