Lemorton Calvados Domfrontais Réserve is a 750ml, 42.5% ABV calvados from Domaine Lemorton in Mantilly, a family estate in the Domfrontais appellation of Normandy. Domfrontais is the pear-growing corner of calvados country, and the appellation requires at least 30% perry pears in the blend; Lemorton's orchards run to roughly 70%, giving the house its distinctive pear-driven style.
Deep gold-straw in color, Réserve shows pear and floral notes on the nose and palate with a touch of vanilla, a slightly richer texture, a bit more tannin and better length than the entry bottling. Sip it neat after dinner, or use it in a calvados Old Fashioned or Jack Rose.
