Martí Estate Strength Rum is the high-proof expression from Martí Auténtico, bottled in a one-liter size at 53.8% ABV (107.6 proof). Like the rest of the Martí range, it is made in Panama from estate-grown sugarcane raised on farmland in the province of Herrera, on the Azuero Peninsula, and it is aged three years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The difference is strength: bottled with far less dilution than the brand's 40% Plata and Dorado, it keeps more of the barrel's texture and flavor, which is why it stands up in tiki drinks and stirred cocktails where a standard-proof rum would get lost. It is also a relatively dry rum, with less than five grams of total sugar per liter. Martí's tasting notes describe stone fruit, plum and peach, with buttery spice on the nose; earthy oak, vanilla, and molasses on the palate, with sweet maple up front and a rich mouthfeel; and a long finish of jam, dried fruit, coffee cake, toasted hazelnut, marzipan, and black pepper.
