Courvoisier VS Cognac
Courvoisier was founded in 1828 in Jarnac, on the banks of the Charente, by Emmanuel Courvoisier and Louis Gallois, and the house still operates from its riverside château there; since 2024 it has been owned by Campari Group. Courvoisier VS is the house's youngest expression, blended by Cellar Master Thibaut Hontanx from Ugni Blanc eaux-de-vie grown primarily in the Fins Bois and Petite Champagne crus. The eaux-de-vie are double distilled in copper pot stills and aged in French oak casks for three to seven years, well beyond the two-year minimum for the VS designation, with the house using both new and seasoned barrels to build vanilla and toasted oak around the fruit. Courvoisier describes a fresh, fruity profile of ripe peach, apricot and spring blossom with vanilla, toasted oak and a hint of coffee on the finish, a style that makes it a go-to for Sidecars, French 75s and long drinks. Courvoisier VS has earned gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Bottled at 40% ABV in the house's distinctive Josephine bottle, 750ml.
