D'Ussé VSOP Cognac
D'Ussé VSOP is produced at the Château de Cognac, a fortress on the Charente that dates to the tenth century, was the birthplace of King Francis I in 1494 and has housed the Baron Otard cognac cellars since 1795. The brand launched in 2012 as a partnership between Bacardi and Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z, and its bottle carries the Cross of Lorraine, a French symbol of courage and honor. Cellar Master Michel Casavecchia blends the VSOP from eaux-de-vie distilled from Ugni Blanc grapes across the Cognac crus, double distilled in copper pot stills and matured for a minimum of four and a half years in the château's riverside cellars, where thick stone walls and high humidity slow evaporation and soften the spirit. D'Ussé describes a bold, full-bodied cognac with aromas of cinnamon, dried fruit and floral notes, a palate of honey, toasted almond and warm spice, and a long, smooth finish. It has earned double gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and is as well known for the D'Ussé Sidecar and D'Ussé Old Fashioned as it is served neat. Bottled at 40% ABV, 750ml.
