Ferrand Single Cask Collection 2012 10 Year Grande Champagne Cognac is a limited edition from Maison Ferrand, the Grande Champagne house revived in 1989 through the collaboration of Alexandre Gabriel and the Pierre Ferrand family. Distilled in 2012 and aged ten years, this cognac spent part of its maturation in barrels that previously held Pauillac red wine from Bordeaux, and it is bottled at cask strength, 107 proof (53.5% ABV), from a single cask.
The Pauillac wood adds red fruit, cassis and a fine tannic grip to Ferrand's classic Grande Champagne profile of orange peel, florals and stone fruit, with vanilla, spice and a long, powerful finish that the full strength carries beautifully. A few drops of water open it up further.
