Merlet VSOP Cognac is the step-up expression from the Merlet family of Saint-Sauvant, distillers in the Charente since 1850. Aged at least four years in French oak and bottled at 40% ABV, it shows the extra roundness and depth that come from longer time in the barrel.
It pours a captivating amber. The nose is delicate florals with dried fruit, apricot, raisin and a touch of vanilla. The palate blends the rich sweetness of ripe fruit with toffee and the warmth of oak in a balanced, luxurious profile, and the finish is enduring and elegant. It sips well neat or on a large cube and makes a refined Sazerac or Vieux Carré.
