Pierre Ferrand 10 Générations Grande Champagne Cognac honors the ten generations of the Ferrand family who have grown vines in Grande Champagne, the Premier Cru of Cognac, since the 1700s. Made by Maison Ferrand from the estate's chalky Angeac vineyards, it is aged in French oak with a portion of the blend matured in casks that previously held Sauternes, the sweet white wine of Bordeaux, and bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof).
The Sauternes wood adds honeyed apricot and a floral lift to Grande Champagne's signature orange peel, white flowers and stone fruit, with vanilla, gentle spice and a long, lively finish that the higher proof carries with real presence. It is superb neat and makes a spectacular Sidecar or Champagne cocktail.
