Corsair Red Absinthe Superieure
Corsair Red Absinthe is a modern American absinthe from Corsair Distillery, the Nashville and Bowling Green, Kentucky craft pioneer known for its experimental spirits. Corsair started with traditional 1800s recipes and herbs to build the clean base of a classic blanche, then added citrus, tarragon ("dragon wormwood," a relative of grand wormwood) and red hibiscus for floral tones and a striking natural red color. Bottled at 56% ABV (112 proof) in a 750ml bottle. It won Silver at the 2017 American Craft Spirits Association and Bronze at the 2014 American Distilling Institute.
The nose is a balance of hibiscus, wormwood and florals; the palate is silky with pepper and floral notes and a dry, long-lasting finish. Serve it with iced water and sugar for a pink louche, use it as a rinse in a Sazerac, or add a splash to a Champagne cocktail. An American original.
