Crown Royal 31 Year Old Extra Rare Canadian Whisky

Crown Royal 31 Year Old is the third installment in the brand's Extra Rare series and part of its Higher Marques portfolio, announced in October 2024 as the oldest blended whisky Crown Royal had released to date, following the 29 and 30 Year Old editions. Master Blender Mark Balkenende hand-selected the barrels from Crown Royal's reserves at its distillery in Gimli, Manitoba, drawing on what the brand calls some of the rarest Crown Royal whisky in the world, all of it aged for a minimum of thirty-one years in oak. It's bottled at 46% ABV, slightly higher than standard Crown Royal, which gives the long-aged blend extra depth and texture. Crown Royal describes a silky-smooth mouthfeel with notes of rye spice, vanilla, red apple and toasted oak, followed by a long and comforting finish of warm, fruity spice. Production was limited and never disclosed in full, and it launched at a suggested retail price of $599 with distribution in only eleven U.S. states, including California. For collectors working through the Extra Rare series, it completes the run of 29, 30 and 31 year releases; for anyone else, it's the oldest Crown Royal you can pour.
