Crown Royal Single Malt is the brand's first single malt, launched in June 2024. Diageo's Jesse Damashek, senior vice president of North American whiskeys, called it Crown Royal's first step into the world of single malts. Unlike the blended whiskies the brand is known for, it's made entirely from 100% malted barley, distilled in copper stills at Diageo's Valleyfield distillery in Quebec, and aged in Canada's cool climate, where lower temperatures slow the maturation. It's bottled at 45% ABV and launched at a suggested $54.99. Crown Royal's own notes describe banana and creamy vanilla that give way to apple, caramel and baking spice. The Whiskey Wash's review, which scored it 8 out of 10, found fresh-baked banana muffin, maple candy, cinnamon and a little strawberry on the nose, a soft, buttery and very smooth palate with baked bread, maple, crisp green apple, coriander and a hint of root beer, and a clean, lightly sweet finish, calling it one of the more interesting recent single malt moves from a legacy brand.
