KAH Extra Añejo Tequila
KAH Extra Añejo is the first premium aged expression from KAH Tequila, the brand known for its Día de los Muertos calavera bottles; KAH is inspired by Mexican traditions of friendship and the imagery of the Day of the Dead. It is made at Fábrica de Tequilas Finos, NOM 1472, in the lowlands of Jalisco under master distiller Arturo Fuentes, from 100% blue agave cooked in stainless steel ovens and distilled in stainless steel pot stills. The tequila is matured for a minimum of three years in white American oak barrels, a long rest meant to build an assertive oak profile while keeping the agave in front, and it is bottled at 40% ABV. KAH describes smooth pepper and smoky wood flavors with hints of sweet spice, vanilla, honey, maple, and caramel. The bottle is part of the appeal: a clay skull bottle with a deep royal green enamel, a color associated in Mayan tradition with eternity and fruitfulness, and a label printed with phosphorescent ink so the calavera and its decorations glow in the dark. It debuted in 2022 and makes a centerpiece on any home bar. Sip it neat or on one large cube.
