Beefeater Pink is the London Dry benchmark with strawberries in it — which sounds like heresy until you taste it. Launched in 2018 by Master Distiller Desmond Payne, then the most experienced gin distiller in the world, it takes the same nine-botanical recipe James Burrough perfected in 1863 — juniper, Seville orange peel, lemon peel, coriander, angelica root and seed, orris, licorice, and almond, steeped 24 hours and distilled in copper pot stills in London — and adds natural strawberry flavor after distillation, bottled at 37.5% ABV. The result is the color of a blush wine and the first flavored gin from a major London Dry house to become a genuine global hit. Expect fresh strawberry and soft vanilla on the nose with the juniper and citrus of the base still clearly present underneath, opening into a lightly sweet, smooth palate where the strawberry leads but never turns to candy, with the Seville orange and coriander keeping it recognizably gin, finishing soft and fruity. Honest note: this is a flavored gin, gently sweetened, and juniper purists should stick with the original. For everyone else it's one of the easiest summer bottles made.
