Jung & Wulff Guyana Luxury Rum
Jung & Wulff is Sazerac's single-origin rum series, named for L.E. Jung and Frederick Wulff, New Orleans importers who once owned the Sazerac House and Peychaud's Bitters. Master blender Drew Mayville built each blend from molasses rums sourced in one country, aged up to 15 years, and bottled all three at 43% ABV. The Guyana bottling, No. 2, is a Demerara rum aged primarily in Guyana, with no sugar added by Sazerac. The Fat Rum Pirate called it silky and smooth, with a rich, creamy nose of caramel, light toffee, and milk chocolate over grassy notes, aniseed, and soft red licorice, plus delicate oak spice and white pepper. The palate is spicier than the nose suggests, with oak spice and white pepper leading into licorice, aniseed, and dark chocolate, then a turn toward tobacco and bittersweet notes, and the medium finish brings back toffee and milk chocolate. Sip it neat or use it wherever a recipe calls for Demerara rum, like a Zombie.
