KISS Monstrum 14 Year Rum
KISS Monstrum is a limited-edition aged rum from Brands For Fans, the Stockholm company that makes the official KISS Rum Kollection. The rum is a blend of specially selected rums from Guyana and Jamaica, aged more than 14 years, with part of the maturation in old arrack leggers, large 800-liter oak casks traditionally used for Batavia arrack. Brands For Fans' master blender put the blend together with no added sugar or flavoring. The packaging is the other half of the appeal: the bottle and label are inspired by Creatures of the Night, KISS's tenth studio album, and the artwork glows in the dark. The published tasting notes describe a complex nose of arrack, coconut, raisins and a hint of vanilla, then a slightly spicy palate with clear oak character and restrained sweetness, rounded off by arrack, muscovado sugar and light vanilla, leading to a balanced, rounded finish. The Beverage Testing Institute scored it 94 points with a gold medal and called it a delightfully complex, well-aged sipping rum. It's a sipper, and a natural gift for a KISS collector.
