Herzog Wine Cellars is the eight-generation family winery behind America's most respected kosher wines, with roots in 1840s Austro-Hungary and a modern home in Oxnard, California, where winemaker Joe Hurliman has led the cellar for over two decades. The Special Reserve tier is Herzog's flagship Cabernet line, and this bottling comes from the Red Hills of Lake County, north of Napa, where vineyards sit above 1,500 feet on red volcanic soil in a dry, high-elevation climate that delivers ripe, concentrated Cabernet with firm structure. The wine is aged in French oak and bottled at 15.5% alcohol. Expect aromas of blackberry jam, cassis, mocha, sandalwood and vanilla, a palate of concentrated cherry and spice with velvety tannin and subtle leather, and a long, warm finish. It is kosher for Passover, OU certified and mevushal, making it a versatile choice for holiday tables and catering.
