David and Jane Perkins founded it in 2006 with a 250-gallon still in an old livery stable on Park City's Main Street; since 2015 most production has come from its Blue Sky Ranch distillery in Wanship on a 1,600-gallon copper pot still. Constellation Brands bought it in 2016 for $160 million. High West built its name on blending house pot-still whiskey with MGP stock, which is how Double Rye is made, and on finishing, most famously A Midwinter Night's Dram, a rye finished in port casks each winter.
