Made at High West in Park City, Utah, A Midwinter Night's Dram starts with Rendezvous Rye, a blend of MGP's 95% rye and High West's own pot-still rye made from 80% rye and 20% malted rye, and finishes it in both Ruby and Tawny Port barrels along with French oak before bottling at 98.6 proof.
The result is the whiskey equivalent of a holiday dessert. Drinkhacker rated Act 12.1 a B+, describing a fruity nose layered with toasty oak and oxidized wine notes reminiscent of Madeira, a peppery, baking-spice palate, and a finish of menthol and raw cinnamon, with the Port leaning toward the nutty Tawny side. High West's own notes call out poached white peaches, stewed rhubarb, tiramisu, candied ginger, brandied cherries and pecan cinnamon rolls. Each scene is a separate small bottling, and Scene 1 is the first of the Act 12 run.
