La Maison & Velier Flag Series Jamaica 2015 Rum
This Flag Series bottling is a single cask of Jamaican pot-still rum from Worthy Park Estate, distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2024 at nine years old by La Maison & Velier as a USA exclusive. La Maison & Velier is the partnership between La Maison du Whisky in Paris and Luca Gargano's Velier in Genoa, and the Flag Series selects single casks from different countries and vintages and bottles them at full cask strength, with no additives and no filtration. Cask WP15H03 yielded just 237 bottles at 60.4% ABV, in the 700ml size used across the series. Worthy Park sits in Lluidas Vale in the parish of St. Catherine, a sugar estate dating back to 1670 and one of the oldest in Jamaica, and it makes its rum from its own estate-grown cane, distilled in pot stills, a single-estate approach that few Jamaican producers can match. Reviewers of this cask point to esters and banana on the nose, with dark chocolate and tropical fruit on a palate that carries a sharp, high-proof edge. Add a few drops of water to open it up.
