Jordan Library Release Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Jordan Vineyard & Winery was founded in 1972 by Tom and Sally Jordan, who modeled their Alexander Valley château on the great estates of Bordeaux, and it is run today by second-generation vintner John Jordan. The winery's Library Release program re-releases bottle-aged Cabernet Sauvignon from its cellar at peak maturity. The 2011, crafted by longtime winemaker Rob Davis, comes from a cool, late-ripening vintage that produced an elegant, food-friendly wine: 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec sourced 85% from Alexander Valley, 14% from Mendocino County and 1% from Dry Creek Valley across some 60 estate blocks and nearly 20 family growers. It aged 12 months in 73% French and 27% American oak, 37% new, followed by 22 months in bottle before its original release, and finishes at a restrained 13.8% ABV. Davis described cranberry, red cherry, cassis, chocolate and tobacco aromas with red currant, fresh herbs, vanilla bean and allspice flavors on a soft, round, refined palate. With more than a decade of age, serve it with roast duck, filet mignon or mushroom bourguignon. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release. 750ml bottle.
