At 112.8 proof (56.4% ABV), non-chill-filtered, it opens with briny sea air, peat smoke, zesty citrus and cracked black pepper on the nose, then a rich, oily palate of salted caramel, medicinal peat and maritime salt, finishing long, smoky and warming like campfire embers with a hint of spice. Each Special Release is a one-time bottling, which makes the 12 Year both a superb drinking whisky and a collector's piece for Lagavulin devotees.
