LaRoche-Vacquié is a family estate overlooking the historic town of Lectoure in Gascony and one of the last working producers in Haut-Armagnac, the sub-region that makes roughly 1% of all Armagnac. Phylloxera wiped out the area's vines in the late 19th century and the land turned to cereals and orchards; Bruno and Sylvie Compagnon bought the property in 1986 as a prune and apple farm, replanted vineyards in 1990 and eventually returned all 25 hectares to vines. Bruno was made a Knight of the Order of Agricultural Merit in 1997 for reviving the appellation.
The vineyard of Ugni Blanc and Colombard sits on limestone with a thin clay layer in a mostly Mediterranean climate. Farming has been organic since 2008 with almost no outside inputs, and a solar farm installed in 2011 powers the estate. The Armagnacs are single distilled, aged in single casks of mostly Tronçais sessile oak, and bottled unreduced and unfiltered, with every bottle hand-sealed, dated and numbered. Only a few casks are released each year.
The range spans the experimental LRV atelier, including Single Oak and Double Oak releases, and the vintage line, which holds the only Haut-Armagnac vintages dating back to 1991. The house was named Best Armagnac at Fest'Armagnac 2026. Browse our full LaRoche-Vacquié collection with fast nationwide shipping delivered straight to your door.
