Deadhead launched in 2011 to put Mexican rum on the global map, and this bottling marks the decade. Master blender Jorge built it from rum resting since 2011 in a combination of American oak and local Chiapas oak, made from sugarcane grown on the company's own farms in the Chiapas jungle. The presentation breaks from the brand's signature shrunken-head shell entirely: an amber glass bottle with a black-matte, copper-foil embossed label, each one hand-numbered and signed by the master distiller. Bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV). Rums from México director Eduardo Pineda described it as rich, intense, and full-bodied with a whiskey-style nose of stone fruit, maple syrup, and vanillin — and the brand's own notes carry that through: brown sugar melting on the tongue, followed by cigar leaf, sassafras, toasted pecan, and oatmeal for real textural complexity, with oak and leather on a deep, lingering finish.
