Nikka Coffey Gin
Nikka Coffey Gin is distilled by Nikka Whisky in its signature Coffey stills, the continuous stills that also produce Nikka Coffey Grain whisky and give this gin its rich, silky texture. Eleven botanicals join juniper, angelica, coriander and citrus peels: four Japanese citruses (yuzu, kabosu, amanatsu and shikuwasa), apple, and Japanese sansho pepper for a tangy lift on the finish. It is bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof).
Drinkhacker rated it an A (9.5/10), describing bold citrus and lemon rind with pine and pepper on the nose, citrus and lemon peel leading an oily palate with pepper and sweetness, and a long herbal, menthol finish, and recommended it neat or over ice for adventurous gin drinkers. It also makes a spectacular Martini with a yuzu or lemon twist. One of the finest Japanese gins available.
