G4 is named for four generations of Camarenas making tequila in Los Altos since 1937 — the family behind El Tesoro and Tapatío — and Felipe built El Pandillo, NOM 1579, in Jesús María in 2011 with his sons to make additive-free tequila his way: estate agave slow-roasted 22 hours in stone ovens, crushed by the handmade Felipestein tahona, double-distilled in copper, and cut with rainwater and spring water. The Reposado de Madera starts as the de Madera Blanco — the only G4 made with well water, fermented in wood with the fibers for extra weight — rests seven months in the old Dickel casks that give it extra sweetness, and is bottled at 40% ABV in a Día de Muertos coffin hand-made in San Juan de los Lagos; check your bottle for the release year.
